As an academic, there’s a unique perk in this country: the freedom to travel abroad without taking leave, as long as the trip is from Friday evening (after work) to Sunday night, and you’ve submitted the proper request beforehand.
Until a few weeks ago, the only feasible short trip was to Miri, Malaysia, a quick two-hour drive from Bandar Seri Begawan.
But now, starting from August this year, AirAsia has launched a Jakarta-BSB flight every Friday and Sunday. The real game changer? The flights are at night right after work hours! So, now it’s possible to enjoy a weekend in Jakarta and be back in Brunei before the workweek starts.
Naturally, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity. This weekend, I connected with some incredible folks from the world of communication and broadcasting. I learned so much from them, and I’m excited about the possibilities.
